Bashir Ahmed Malik – May Allah have mercy on him

<p>Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) was born in Ghadames in 1930 and completed memorizing the Holy Qur’an by the age of eleven. He pursued his education at Al-Zaytuna University in Tunisia, where he mastered the Qalun and Warsh recitations and studied jurisprudence (Fiqh) and its principles. He later settled in Tripoli, where he co-founded the Moulay Muhammad Qur’anic School in 1974 alongside Sheikh Al-Amin Qaniwa.<br /> He served as a preacher (Khateeb) at the Moulay Muhammad and Al-Houni mosques and taught the Qur’an at the Faculty of Islamic Call for decades. He was a prominent member of the committee that prepared the “Mushaf al-Jamahiriya” and served as a judge in both local and international Qur’anic competitions. Sheikh Bashir passed away in Istanbul in 2016 and was laid to rest in his hometown of Ghadames.</p>
