Mustafa Ahmed Qashqash – May Allah have mercy on him

<p>Sheikh Mustafa Ahmed Qashqash (may Allah have mercy on him) was born in Misrata in 1935. He completed the memorization of the Holy Qur’an at a young age before traveling to Tunisia to study at Al-Zaytuna University, where he earned degrees in academic attainment and a specialization in Qur’anic Readings (Qira’at).<br /> Throughout his distinguished career, he dedicated decades to the service of the Qur’an, serving as the General Director of Qur’anic Schools and heading the Institute of Readings. Most notably, he supervised the preparation, writing, and printing of the “Mushaf al-Jamahiriya” and chaired the permanent committee for reviewing the Qur’an.<br /> In addition to his academic teaching of Arabic and Islamic education, he was an international authority on Tajweed rules. This expertise led him to chair and participate in judging committees for major international Qur’anic competitions both in Libya and abroad, including in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Turkey, Syria, and Pakistan. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 83. </p>
