<p>Sheikh Al-Amin Muhammad Qaniwa (may Allah have mercy on him) was born in the Old City of Tripoli on October 3, 1932 (17 Jumada al-Awwal 1352 AH).<br /> He began memorizing the Holy Qur’an at the age of five under Sheikh Mukhtar Houriya. Due to the circumstances of World War II, he moved to Msallata, where he continued his studies at the Grand Mosque (Majabra Mosque). Upon returning to Tripoli, he completed four full written transcriptions (Khatmat) of the Qur’an on the traditional wooden tablet (Lawh) under Sheikh Mukhtar Houriya.<br /> He later pursued his studies at the Ahmed Pasha College, where he was taught the foundations of Tajweed and the rules of recitation by Sheikh Muhammad Al-Misrati and Sheikh Ali Al-Ghariyani. Sheikh Al-Amin Qaniwa dedicated his life to teaching the Qur’an, raising a generation of proficient reciters, and was a prominent figure in Libyan international Qur’an competitions.</p>
