Shukri Ahmed Muhammad bin Hammadi – May Allah have mercy on him

<p>Sheikh Ali bin Ali Al-Ghariyani (may Allah have mercy on him) was born in Souq al-Juma’a, Tripoli, in 1914. He received his Sharia and linguistic education at the Mizran Mosque under senior scholars of his time.<br /> His teaching journey began at the age of sixteen at the Grand Mosque in “Al-Hanshir.” He advanced through various educational roles until he became the director of the Quranic School and the Department of Quranic Sciences at the Ahmed Pasha College in 1968.<br /> Sheikh Al-Ghariyani is considered a pioneer of the scientific and religious renaissance in Libya. He specialized in Quranic orthography (Rasm) and calligraphy, playing a vital role in the writing and review of the “Mushaf al-Jamahiriya.” He authored the book “Al-Tashil fi Dabt wa Rasm Ba’d Kalimat al-Tanzil” (Simplification of the Orthography and Diacritics of Certain Words of Revelation). He mentored a generation of prominent scholars, including Ali Shanan and Al-Sadiq Tabila, and oversaw scholarly missions to Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. His dedication to teaching and the Quran continued until his passing in March 1996.</p>
